When I close my eyes and think about it, I can see almost every detail. It would be 2 story, white, with a huge front porch. There would be lots of trees and a long driveway making the house far from the road. The front and backyard would be big, and there would be no need for a fence. In my dream there are no "bad people", and my children are always safe. There would be rocking chairs and a swing on the front porch, lots of hanging plants like at my Grandma's house, and the flowers would always be blooming. There would be fruit trees, and pecan trees in the yard. There would be no ant beds, and the sound of crickets would put my family and myself to sleep every night.
Inside the front door, which would never be locked, would be a room with lots of windows. The floors are hard wood, but have scratches from all the running my boys do. Straight ahead is a hall way with doors on the right and left leading to a library, bathroom and living room. At the back of the house is a large kitchen and dining room. The pantry in the kitchen is huge! It's full of home canned vegetables and fruit that I and my family made. There are always the ingredients I need to cook anything I want. The kitchen always smells like apples, pears, or fresh baked bread. There is a lot of counter space and tons of cabinets.
There are two sets of stairs in the house leading up to the bedrooms. One set is in the kitchen, the other near the front door. Up the stairs there are 5 bedrooms, one for Ryan and I, and one for each of our children, the ones we have now, and future babies. Our bedroom has a large king size 4 poster bed. The frame is made of dark stained cherry, as well as the two dressers. There are rugs on either side of the bed, that match the quilt my Mama made for me. we have a huge closet and our own large bathroom. There is a stand alone shower and a clawfoot bathtub. There is even a skylight, so I can see the start at night from the tub, or sunlight during the day.
Beside our bedroom is the nursery. You can get to it from the hallway, or pocket doors in our bedroom. Each baby starts out in that room, but moves on to their own when they are a year old.
Down the hall way are the other three bedrooms. Jonas and Elliot have separate rooms, but usually end up in Jonas' room in the bunk beds. They fight a lot, but wouldn't be without the other for anything in the world. We have a dog, and a cat. The cat's name is Bubba, named after the cat Ryan had growing up. He's very fat, and very affectionate. Our dog is a golden retriever, and a little brainless at times, but she loves the boys, and protects them.
Back to the living room downstairs! There is a fireplace, with a large wooden mantle. It has pictures of our family on it most of the time, and has stockings lined up from Thanksgiving until after Christmas. The room is large, and can hold a large comfy couch, two comfy chairs, and still have room for toys and a large Christmas tree. The floors in here are wooden, too, but we have a large area rug that's a soft as the most expensive carpet you can get.
I get to stay at home, and Ryan has a job that doesn't work him too many hours. he gets to come home before dark at night, and always has weekends off so we can take a drive, or just stay home and play outside with the kids. Everyone always gets lots of hugs, which are returned. We all tell each other everyday just how much we love each other.
I may never have the life, or house, but I already have the family. In my heart it's the same.
